AVIF to PNG

AVIF to PNG converter that keeps transparency

Export AVIF images to lossless PNG without uploading them. Priconvert preserves alpha transparency for static AVIF sources, processes everything locally in your browser, and lets you preview before you download.

This page is a focused entry point into the same privacy-first converter on Priconvert — processed locally in your browser, with no uploads for conversion. Pro users can batch convert, resize, compress, and download ZIP files from the converter.

About this converter

What does this AVIF to PNG converter do?

AVIF to PNG conversion decodes a static AVIF and writes a PNG that editing tools, printers, and older workflows already accept. PNG is lossless for 8-bit RGBA, so it is a strong choice when you need transparency and maximum compatibility for further editing — even if the PNG file is larger than the AVIF source.

Priconvert runs the conversion on your device. Native AVIF decode is preferred; a WASM decoder loads only if the browser cannot decode the file. Encoding uses the browser’s PNG canvas export — the same shared pipeline as other Priconvert image tools.

Supported formats, transparency, and AVIF context

Input: static .avif. Output: .png with transparency preserved when the source has an alpha channel. Animated AVIF is not supported. PNG output does not use a quality slider because browser PNG export is lossless.

AVIF advantages: efficient compression and optional transparency in a single modern container. Disadvantages: heavier encode cost and weaker support in legacy software. Converting to PNG trades file size for a format every image editor understands, while keeping transparent pixels intact.

Browser compatibility for viewing AVIF is wide on current desktop and mobile browsers. Convert to PNG when a partner, print workflow, or app still requires PNG rather than AVIF or WEBP.

How it works

How AVIF to PNG conversion works

Local decode and lossless PNG export — no account required for single-file use.

  1. 1

    Upload your AVIF

Drop a static .avif or choose one from your device. Nothing uploads for conversion.

  2. 2

    Convert on your device

Priconvert decodes the AVIF and exports PNG, keeping transparent pixels when present.

  3. 3

    Preview and resize if needed

Check the side-by-side preview. Optional resize uses the shared pipeline before PNG export.

  4. 4

    Download your PNG

Save the file locally. Priconvert does not store your image on a server after conversion.

Privacy

Your AVIF stays on your device

AVIF to PNG is built for private, browser-local conversion — not a server upload pipeline.

  • Files are processed in the browser on your device.
  • Priconvert does not upload your image for this conversion.
  • Batch ZIP export on Pro also runs locally before download.
